Flex 3 & QTP 10.x

Hi All,

I was trying to test my flex 3 application for functional testing , the best Autometion tool I knew of was HP – QTP(FT) priviously known as Mercury QTP.

Had few errors in setuping the application record & play.
Had this error. I know almost all of us will get this (If we dont read the document)…

Cannot find the “MacromediaFlashPlayerActiveX” object’s parent “Browser” (class Browser). Verify that parent…. flex

If you get this error then you have missed some thing from a document and that is following lines to put in you flex 3 project compiler settings… it is refrence to your automation library for flex.

-include-libraries “C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3 Plug-in\sdks\3.2.0\frameworks\libs\automation.swc” “C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3 Plug-in\sdks\3.2.0\frameworks\libs\automation_agent.swc” “C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3 Plug-in\sdks\3.2.0\frameworks\libs\qtp.swc” “C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3 Plug-in\sdks\3.2.0\frameworks\libs\automation_dmv.swc”

Deselect LinkBar Flex 3 / 4 when Provided with Viewstack DataProvider

If you want to manage a Linkbar control by clicking on same link multiple times… you might be looking like some thing below…

package com.ranjitfx.library
import mx.controls.LinkBar;
import mx.controls.Button;

public class RFXLinkBar extends LinkBar
public function RFXLinkBar ()

override protected function hiliteSelectedNavItem(index:int):void
var obj: Object = super;
var child:Button;

// Un-hilite the current selection.
if (selectedIndex != -1 && selectedIndex < numChildren)
child = Button(getChildAt(selectedIndex));
child.enabled = true;

// Set new index.
obj.selectedIndex = index;

// Hilite the new selection.
//Uncoment following if you looking for assigning -1 to selectedIndex to manage buttons.
/*if (index != -1 && index < numChildren)
child = Button(getChildAt(index));
child.enabled = false;
